2 Features In Cars That Will Help You Prevent A Car Accident And Prevent Injuries

Posted on

If you have ever been in a car accident, you know how scary it can be. Not only do you have to deal with a damaged car, but you may also be hurt. Fortunately, there are some features you can find in cars that will help you prevent accidents, as well as features that will help prevent injuries, two of which are listed below.

Intelligent Speed Assist

One feature that will help prevent a car accident is the Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA). This is a technology that will alert you using visual and audio warnings inside your car if you are going over the speed limit.

ISA works by determining the location of your vehicle through GPS (global positioning system). Once it determines where you are located, it cross references your location to a digital road map that contains the speed limit on the road you are driving on. ISA then determines what speed you are driving at.

There are also ISA systems that will not allow you to drive over the posted speed limit. It does this by reducing the throttle signal that is going to your vehicle's computer. If it determines you are going over the speed limit, it reduces the accelerator pressure. This will make it very difficult for you to accelerate over the speed limit. You can also set this system up to advise you when the speed limit changes, or advise you what the current speed limit is where you are driving.  You can activate or deactivate the system through steering wheel controls.

Seat Belts

Ford Motor Company introduced an inflatable seat belt in their 2011 Explorer, and Mercedes Benz is going to introduce a seat belt that has an air bag inside of it in their cars. This feature will help prevent you from being injured in a car accident. You will likely see this type of seat belt in other cars in the future.

The airbag will be placed between the fabric in the belt. If you are in a car accident, the bag will inflate inside the seat belt. These air bags contain a type of gas instead of the standard pyrotechnics that is used in traditional airbags to keep drivers from getting burned.

If you are in a car accident, you should contact an attorney at http://www.grdlaw.com/ as soon as you can even if you are at fault.  This is especially true if you are injured in the accident. If the other driver was clearly at fault, the attorney can help you get compensation for time lost from work, as well as money for your medical bills.
